Acacia catechu

An ancient Ayurvedic tonic and historically valuable dye, cutch comes from a small tree related to wattle and mimosa. Particularly venerated in India, cutch produces the colour khak (khaki) used to dye military uniforms for camouflage, and lends its name to the region of Kutch in Gujurat.

Description

100% pure silk ribbon
Hand-dyed using natural dyes

Our ribbons are hand-dyed with living colour from nature. Prepared in small batches, each ribbon is unique, with subtle variations in tone, shading and markings. If you require larger amounts in the same colour, please get in touch so we can ensure your ribbons come from the same batch.

Ribbons are bias cut (on the diagonal) from lengths of pure silk habotai fabric, with a soft cut edge which will not fray.

Your ribbon is hand-wound onto a sustainable wooden spool, made for exclusively for us in Australia.

We endeavour to photograph our ribbons as accurately as possible, however please note that monitors vary in colour representation, and colours may differ slightly from what you seen on the screen.

Ribbons are available in 4 widths:
– 1.2 cm (0.5 inch) :: 5 metres per spool
– 2.5 cm (1 inch) :: 3 metres per spool
– 3.8 cm (1.5 inch) :: 3 metres per spool
